Dr. Gonzalez

Dr. Gonzalez, a fellow with the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (FSCAI), earned a bachelor's degree from Liceo Agustin Codazzi in Maracay, Venezuela, before continuing to the University of Carabobo School Of Medicine, also in Maracay, where she earned a medical degree.
Dr. Gonzalez later was accepted to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she obtained a master's degree. Followed by her internship and training in Internal Medicine at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, she completed advanced training by way of Fellowship in Hypertension from the University of Pittsburgh. She continued her advanced training by entering another Fellowship in Cardiology at the Pittsburgh Heart Institute at Shadyside Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh.
In 1995, she entered private practice in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with the Cardiovascular Institute of the South until 1997. She later joined Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in 1997, where she assisted Dr. William Condos on the restructuring of the Cardiac Program.
In 1999, Dr. Gonzalez began to search for an area in Louisiana that was underserved in Interventional Cardiology and discovered that Northeast Louisiana fit that criteria. At the time, two Interventional Cardiologists from Oschners Hospital in New Orleans were flown into the area to attend to the care of patients that were in need of Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTCAs) and Stints for blocked arteries.
Dr. Gonzalez responded to this need by reopening the Interventional Program at St. Francis Medical Center on a full-time basis. In 2001, Glenwood Medical Center saw the growing need to provide an additional Interventional Program. Dr. Gonzalez responded to this calling by opening the Interventional Program at Glenwood Medical Center, so that both sides of the Ouachita River could be served for acute angioplasty in a timely manner. She also participated in the development of Northeast Louisiana's first accredited chest pain center at Glenwood Hospital.
Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center is a corporate sponsor for "Go Red for Women" and "The American Heart Walk", as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce for Monroe and West Monroe. Dr. Gonzalez often speaks to physicians in rural areas on the advancement of Angioplasty and Heart Catheterization.
Dr. Gonzalez works to make Ouachita Parish aware of the seriousness of heart disease. She publishes an educational series in the Monroe News Star entitled "Heart Talk". Her commitment to the Northeast Louisiana area is to provide optimum healthcare services and to educate patients on the number-one killer in Americans.
